Contemporary House in Cali, Colombia
Set on a plot in the Colombian Andes overlooking the city of Cali, this contemporary house makes the most of the views and steep geography. The house comprises three main volumes stacked on top of each other at different angles following the contours of the terrain. At basement level there will be a multi-use room (linked to the outdoor swimming pool) and the utility, storage and plant rooms. At ground floor, the main entrance leads to an open plan with the kitchen, dining and living spaces to the north and a guest room wing to the south, all with views to the valley. the first floor volume will contain the Master Suite, a study and a third guest bedroom.
This new house will be fully automated for its lighting, security and heating systems. It will also generate its own electricity and heat water using solar panels and will implement a rain water harvesting system to use the water for showers, washing machines and reuse this water to flush all toilets.
