After a long process of changing the use of this site from agricultural store to dwelling, the current owners commissioned 2P Studio to design a single storey contemporary house comprising three bedrooms and an open plan kitchen-dining-living overlooking the Essex countryside.
The new dwelling has two double bedrooms with a Jack & Jill shower room and a Master Suite (w/ large Bathroom and walk-in wardrobe) all looking to the inner garden and extended views to the fields.
Energy efficiency and independence were essential requirements in the brief with both volumes facing south to maximise solar energy production and controlling solar gain inside in the summer. The chosen materials (wood and metal roof) tie up the new house to its surroundings and a nod to the history of the site.
