Following initial sketches and a consultation with the Local Parish Council and the Diocesan Advisory Committee, the project to replace the existing Victorian entrance lobby has been given a green light and it is now in the procurement stage. The existing Victorian entrance is in a bad state and does not serve its purpose well for daily use or for bigger events (i.e. funerals) as it is too dark and located at a lower level from the main entrance porch. The new design proposes to ramp the entrance porch to eliminate the step down into the south aisle and replace the existing lobby with a new wood frame structure and fully glazed screen allowing plenty of light in from the porch and a clear view from both ends which will be more inviting and safe to use.
